I love how my 20 before 20 list had me doing so many things. For example last year I got my first ever tailored outfits see here and here. Getting those two made, made me really like tailored outfits because first you get to have complete input on how it the outfit will look like, tailored outfits are also waay cheaper and lastly, fabric shopping is sorta fun(I mean, walking around the shop throwing around some sewing jargon and having people believe you’re a design genius but in actuality you know nothing, totally fun) . But somewhere along the line I realized that sometimes you can’t really transfer the vision that you have in your head to the tailor and he/she will sometimes not get what you want.
So there I was seated thinking “I wish I could make these outfits myself”. Once the thought was planted in my head, I seriously couldn’t stop thinking about it. Next thought “I need a sewing machine”. I had just spent a better portion of my savings on something else and now the other option was to convince my parents to get me one. So after a couple of months(in March) I got it but I was just about to start my exams so I didn’t really get to use it much.
So it’s been about a month since I finished exams and two
failed projects later I was able to make this skirt. I think it’s a pretty decent job since I’m basically teaching myself. It’s really amazing and I wish I could wear it again but I’ve already handed it over to my mum. Why, you ask? I added a few inches to the waist( you know, just in case) which was a bad decision since now it’s a bit too big for me. But oh well, couldn’t give it away before it had its cameo on the blog, now could I?
Oh and I wound what was left of the material on a necklace. What kind of person would I be if I didn’t have a matching neck piece for the skirt? Although, I won’t give my mum this one! (Love you Mum!)
