The Girl In The African Print: Part Uno

September 19, 2014

So since Nairobi had been having some bipolar weather, I decided to go to the coast and soak up the sun and get some tan while at it. Ha! I wish it was that simple. My folks have been planning this since June. SINCE JUNE! We were supposed to go to coast just to celebrate Jeff’s 22nd birthday (Big guy is all grown up!) which was in June. But we’ve been postponing since then ’cause something always came up. So we set the date for after my birthday and my fingers were crossed that we wouldn’t postpone again. Around that time I made sure not to spread the news because I feel like the moment you’ve shared some big plans they always end up not happening. I’m speaking through experience guys! Does that happen to only me? Hope not.

So back to my 20 before 20 list. (Are you really gonna go on and on about this list forever? Why, Yes, Yes I am). One of the things on the list was to get a tailor made outfit. Like 3 weeks before my birthday, my dad came home with some African print material. Like really? I feel like the universe was conspiring to help me cross things off that list! So a week to my birthday, I made my mum take me to look for a tailor who could make me an outfit. The first was a dress. That’s my design right there guys *curtsies*. The first tailor I actually went to refused to put a zip at the front of the dress. She refused saying that it wouldn’t look nice. I think she forgot that’s it ,I, who will be wearing it.

I loooove this dress 🙂 I’m such a late bloomer on the whole ‘African Print’ deal though.
